Your Consultation with Dr. Williams

Dr. Williams feels that the most important part of the consultation is to listen to you and understand what you want to achieve.  During your consultation, Dr. Williams will discuss with you and explain the procedure and your expected results. Each of the possible options for the surgery will also be explained.  Depending upon your goals, alternatives, as well as additional procedures, may be recommended. The goal is for you to be fully informed so that you are confident that the choice you make is the right one to give you the result you want.

Candidates for Thigh Lift Surgery

  • Men and women who have laxity and loose skin of the thighs
  • If there is excessive fat of the thighs, this is best treated with Liposuction. After Liposuction the patient is evaluated for a Thigh Lift.

Thigh Lift Surgery

The exact extent of the surgery needed for correction will depend upon the patient’s individual condition and the desired result. The incision is made so that it does not show with most types of clothing or swimsuits. The most common technique for the Thigh Lift is to make an incision in the inner groin and extend this along with the inner pubis and inner thigh. The skin is released and elevated from the underlying thigh muscle. The skin is elevated upward and the excess skin and tissue removed. The thigh skin is sutured to the deep tissue of the public and groin area.

For those patients that have laxity and sagging of the lower buttock and upper back of the thigh, the lower thigh incision is extended along the lower buttock crease. The excess skin of the lower buttock is removed and the upper back thigh is lifted and sutured. This procedure is often referred to as a “Buttock Lift” re-shapes and contours the lower buttock. This results in a tighter and more shapely buttock.

Planning Your Procedure

The procedure is performed at the Plastic Surgery Center. This is performed in a nationally accredited (AAAASF) surgical facility. This ensures that the surgery is done in complete privacy and that it is done with the highest quality of patient safety standards for ambulatory surgery. Prior to surgery all cases are reviewed in conjunction with Dr. Williams and Anesthesia. Depending upon your present health and the type of procedure planned it may be necessary to have lab work done prior to surgery.

Dr. Williams will discuss with you and give you instructions for before and after your surgery. The surgery is out- patient surgery. That means that you will be able to go home after the surgery. It will be necessary for you to have a care giver with you for 24 hours after your surgery.  This is to ensure your safety and that all necessary post-operative instruction are followed. If you do not have a care-giver, arrangements can be made for this. Dr Williams understands that patients and their care givers often have anxiety, concerns and questions after surgery.  Dr. Williams is always available 24 hour a day to respond to you. Every effort is made throughout to make certain that you have a great experience and that you obtain your best possible desired result.

Recovery from Thigh Lift Surgery

The patient is walking and moving, although limited activity, the next day after surgery. A drain is usually placed beneath the thigh skin. This drain will be removed in 2-5 days.  A compression garment is worn for about a month after surgery to reduce swelling and give support. Depending upon healing you can usually drive about two weeks after surgery.  Strenuous activity such as jogging, yoga and bicycle riding is limited until about 6 weeks or so after surgery.

Cost of Thigh Lift Surgery

The cost of thigh lift surgery will depend upon whether only the inner thighs are lifted or both the inner thighs and buttocks are lifted. The cost will be $6,000.00-$9,000.00.

Commonly Asked Questions about Thigh Lift:

Will a Thigh Lift get rid of Cellulite?

Cellulite is fat directly under the skin that pushes out through the connective tissue and causes a lumpy, dimpled appearance of the skin.  A Thigh Lift will the remove the Cellulite where the skin is removed, but the Cellulite in other areas of the thighs will remain.

Should I have Liposuction or a Thigh Lift?

Thigh Lift Surgery is done primarily to remove excess skin and laxity of the thighs and buttocks, not to remove excess fat. If there is excessive fat of the thighs Liposuction would be necessary to remove this. Depending upon the amount and location of the adiposity, Liposuction may be done before, during or after the Thigh Lift.
